Spending Time With Your Sales Team
I remember getting the phone call that I was going to be promoted into sales management. There was a level of excitement that I could not contain. I was just told that I was being promoted to a regional business manager for one of the largest companies in the world. It was also shared with me that I was going to be the youngest sales manager on the team. So naturally I was filled with a level of confidence in my abilities. There was one problem with this phone call.
I wasn’t prepped for the amount of work that was going to come overnight. I woke up with a new set of responsibilities and a task list that never ended. What bothered me most about this was I wasn’t able to spend the time with my team the way I had envisioned. I started to lose the communication that was needed from my direct reports. It took some time for me to figure out how to connect with me people on a consistent basis and handle my management responsibilities.
